Introduction
This year, I had the opportunity to compete in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), one of the biggest clubs at DCTS. In this blog, I will be sharing my personal experiences from the conference leadership and what my 3 days at Hershey, PA, were like.
Purpose of this blog
This blog is about my experience at the 2025 FBLA state conference at Hershey. I want to encourage students to compete in the FBLA event and experience new things there.
Paragraph 1
Beginning of the project for FBLA
At the start of this year’s competition, I decided to do website coding and development. I had a partner named Brayden, but in the end, he decided that he did not want to compete. However, my instructor and FBLA advisor Joshua Choate (Mr. Choate) had a different plan. He advised me to partner up with Gael, a freshman trying to compete in FBLA.
Paragraph 2
During the project
Gael mostly worked on the backend of the website and told me to work on the front-end, since he had a lot of knowledge about the backend, and I had more experience in the front-end of the website. We worked on PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and with all the different ideas, we created a video for the competition. We ended up getting selected for the state’s competition.
Paragraph 3
Presentation in Hershey Lodge
Now began our state’s journey. This was going to be special because we had a lot of hard work to do and fix some issues on the backend of the website. After doing all the hard work, we had the presentation left, so we got some help from AI and other resources to make our presentation perfect.
It was the day to finally leave for Hershey, PA. We packed our bags and left for Hershey, and then, when we arrived, Gael and I decided to find a place to fix some minor things on our website. After fixing the mistakes, we were ready for our competition, so we went to the room. But we found out that our competition is the day after. We felt a bit relieved because we still had some things to do on our website.
The next day, we were ready to go to our competition, and we went in there, and I was feeling a bit nervous. But I still tried my best, and we started the competition. Then there was an issue while trying to showcase our website; there was an error with the laptop and projector. We were not able to show our website properly and ran out of time, but we still did our best.
Later that night, it was the awards ceremony, I was not expecting much; I thought we wouldn’t even place top 10. Then they called “Website coding and development,” and I saw Gael and my name on it, and I was really happy. We went up the stage, and they called our names for 8th place, and I was a little upset that we did not make it to nationals, but I’ve got more experience from this year, and what I should do for next year. Although 8th place made me a bit upset, I am happy for the other students who made it to nationals this year, Rosbin Bhujel, Umesh Dhimal, Krish Chettri, Austin Mumma, and his team.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this is how my 2025 FBLA experience was, and I’ll try my best to compete again next year. Although my experience was not as great as last year, my journey in FBLA has been great so far, I’ve been learning a lot, meeting new people, and experiencing amazing things. Thank you for reading my blog.
